Georgia taxpayers have the opportunity to make donations to the GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD FAMILY SUPPORT FOUNDATION, INC., a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation, when they file their taxes again this year!
Referred to as a simple “check-off” box on the Georgia income tax return, the tax-deductible donation was added to the Georgia state income tax forms by the Legislature in 2005 as a show of support for the Georgia National Guard.
The Foundation received:
$ 107,559.00 for tax year 2005 returns;
$ 114,195.00 for tax year 2006 returns;
$ 104,038.00 for tax year 2007 returns;
$ 80,777.00 for tax year 2008 returns;
$ 102,389.00 for tax year 2009 returns;
AND
$ 77,823.00 for tax year 2010 returns!
THIS BRINGS OUR CUMULATIVE TOTAL TO: $ 586,781.00!
Reportedly 98% of these contributions were from $1.00 donations!
The Foundation provides emergency relief assistance to the soldiers and airmen of the
GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD and other qualified military members.
As a result of these contributions and others, the Foundation has been able to provide
more than $ 1,541,590.00 in financial assistance to over 1,790 Georgia National Guard
