The GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD FAMILY SUPPORT FOUNDATION, INC. is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization established in 1994 to provide emergency relief assistance during times of financial crisis to the members and families of the Georgia National Guard, our State's reservists and qualified active duty service members in the State of Georgia. The Foundation, although not a military organization, is recognized as an official support organization of the Georgia National Guard.

In November 2005, Georgia Chamber President & CEO, George Israel, announced with David Ratcliffe, Chairman, President & CEO, Southern Company, and 2005 Chair of the Georgia Chamber, Governor Sonny Perdue's initiative to raise ONE million dollars to support Georgia-based troops and their families through the GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD FAMILY SUPPORT FOUNDATION.

Through the generous support of donors, both large and small, the Foundation was able to reach that goal by the end of 2006! We received $1 in cash in an unmarked envelope as well as a $100,000.00 check with an Atlanta Journal donation coupon!

As a result of these contributions, we have been able to help hundreds of families, both traditional and deployed soldiers and airmen, with emergency relief assistance.

Family Support Foundation Gets Check From Income Tax Check-Offs   Georgia taxpayers have donated more than $114,000 to the Georgia Guard Family Support Foundation by using the simple check-off box on their income tax forms. The check was presented at the National Guard Day ceremony at the State Capitol. ATLANTA - March 11, 2008 Governor Sonny Perdue today presented a check on behalf of Georgia taxpayers who have again stepped up to help their fellow Georgians in uniform and their families with a donation of more than $114,000 made to the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation. "I am proud to present this donation on behalf of Georgia's citizens to support the selfless and courageous men and women, the citizen soldiers, of the Georgia National Guard," said Governor Sonny Perdue. Welcome Home 48th   Governor Perdue has committed the state's assistance to help every Georgia service member fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan find a job upon their return to the United States. On December 9th, 2005, Governor Perdue said “if you do have trouble finding work when you get back home to Georgia, call my office. I will find you a job. The Georgia Chamber of Commerce presents "Freedom" by Steve Penley   Freedom is a stirring and penetrating tribute to American soldiers, from the Minute Men to the 48th Brigade, captured on canvas by renowned Georgia artist Steve Penley to benefit the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation.
